All the best.
Ableton & SoundCloud have been running a competition. Put simply, contestants download a load of samples from a few select artists, make a song out of it all, then submit their entry. There's a catch though - they only have 24 hours to finish. I find it's always good to play around with other peoples material because it usually ends up guiding you somewhere completely new, plus having a time limit forces you to actually finish something. So, I obviously wanted to give it a go, but completely forgot about the contest till the final day (it ran for a couple of weeks). I thus had to give myself the far more cruel time limit of only 1 hour, because I really wanted to go to sleep. Here it is.
I have to be honest. When my hour was up I bounced it down and had a listen. I hated it and gave myself till midnight (another 40 minutes) to mess with it, hence the name. I guess it's OK for a 100 minute job (I still hate it though). If you love me (or if you think it's actually any good) you can vote for it, but go ahead and check out some of the other submissions here. I'll let you know how I do. Probably.
All the best.
My name is Damion Sheppard and I'm a bassist.
I've decided to do the blog thing, for no other reason than that it sort of vaguely feels like I ought to be doing the blog thing. I'll be filling this thing with various musical things along with any other things that interest me, or any things that could interest anyone that may happen upon this thing (I should point out that writing isn't where my strengths lie. I also remember being warned about the misuse of brackets).
I will probably end up posting for myself more than anyone else; I often have a lot of nonsense to rant about, whether anyone cares or not. Also, I have a terrible memory and I reckon it will be good for reminding myself of what the hell I have going on and what I should be doing (or perhaps I could not do this and just get on with my life - will get back to you on this). And of course, anyone that is interested can see what I'm up to as well. Yeah.
My name is Damion Sheppard and I'm a bassist who's trying (going?) to 'make it big', or summit like dat.
Welcome to my thing (this thing is a blog).
